    Plain Wallet for Android

The same wallet, now as an Android app: a browser with Plain Wallet built in.

    • Address bar on top. Type a site, or anything else to search DuckDuckGo. Tap ☆ to favorite the site.
    • Every https site gets Plain Wallet's provider, the same one the extension injects (EIP-1193 and EIP-6963), with the same approvals, simulation and optional Jev check.
    • Favorites, with their icons, on top of the wallet's home screen.
    • Fingerprint unlock (optional; turn it on in Settings with your password). Android keeps the wallet key behind your fingerprint, and adding or removing a fingerprint turns it off. Export still asks for the password.

Needs Android 11+ and an up-to-date Android System WebView. The app is new and unaudited. Its known differences from the extension, notably that sites and the wallet share one WebView process, are listed in the README.

    Also in this release

    • Setup checks as you type. The seed phrase is lowercased, and a line under the box says what's missing or wrong (word count, a word that isn't in the list, the checksum, private-key length). The password fields show how many characters are left and whether the two match.
    • A quieter Jev line. The summary names scam or fake-site risk only when it's worth a look; otherwise it says "probably ok". The details still show every number.

    Install

    • Android: download plainwallet-0.2.0-android.apk on the phone and open it, allowing installs from your browser or file manager when asked. Future releases are signed with the same key and install over it. The signing certificate's SHA-256 is:
      1F:EC:2B:63:39:34:74:21:B0:C5:64:AB:19:EE:66:34:39:16:F7:FE:B0:81:62:C3:5F:C3:5C:9F:B5:9F:CB:83
    • Chrome / Brave / Edge: unzip plainwallet-0.2.0-chrome.zip, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder. The zip is unsigned.
    • Firefox / LibreWolf: either load plainwallet-0.2.0-firefox.zip temporarily from about:debugging, or in a browser that allows unsigned extensions set xpinstall.signatures.required to false, rename the zip to .xpi and open it.
